Initiative Südafrika e.V.
The Initiative Südafrika e.V. (Initiative for South Africa) is a registered non-profit organization with about 100 members from Lampoldshausen in Germany. This initiative was founded in 1998 with the aim to support Leka Gape from Germany. Its key responsibilities include the collection donations and transfer of private donations to Leka Gape.
The Initiative Südafrika e.V. has been supported Leka Gape since the early days through voluntary activities. It all started with an exchange program of 10 street children and youth of Lulekani in Lampoldshausen.
The group visited our village and presented their living conditions on many events in neighbor communities and villages. Motivated by the positive feedback of the people, we decided to found a "real" association (German e.V.).
We achieved this status in 1998 with the registration to the German association index, which allow us to provide official donation certifications.
Our statutory aims are:
- To improve international understanding and cooperation between people in Germany and South Africa
- To provide development aid through humanitarian projects
Currently our main aim is to provide financial support for the Leka Gape Shelter for women and children.
To achieve these objectives we try to inform much people as possible about Leka Gape. We regularly organize events where we present Leka Gape projects and collect donations for the work of Leka Gape.
Where do we get money from?
The main part comes from donations of private people, who consider our project as helpful. Besides that, we finance our work through membership fees. We have about 100 members who help us with their contributions.
Additionally we realize income from our events and activities, e.g. coffee afternoons, catering of hunting events or selling of books, South African arts, crafts and tea.
The donations we receive are only used for the projects of Leka Gape in Lulekani. As there are usually very high bank charges for international money transfers we would like to ask you to contact us if you want to support us.
Depending on your home country and the amount of your donation we will find the best way to transfer the money and to avoid high bank charges. The Initiative Südafrika e.V. will transfer 100% of your donations directly to Leka Gape.
There will be no deductions for handling and administration. The Initiative Südafrika e.V. will send you a donation receipt if needed.
