I am a retired teacher for primary and secondary schools. For Leka Gape I have helped to establish a new project.
This project provides young people between 18 and 24 years the opportunity to go as an Aupair to Germany for one year. We hope that our participants will have better chances after their stay in Germany to find a job in South Africa.
I also teach the participants in German and prepare them for a German Test that is compulsory for the visa.
I wanted to gain some experience in a development aid project and also to escape from the German winter. For this reason I contacted the WFD (the German organization World Peace Service) which introduced me to Leka Gape.
Then I looked at the Leka Gape website for further information and applied for this organization.
The lessons with my Aupair students gave me the opportunity to learn about the South African society and culture. Besides that I enjoy my time here, because South Africa is very beautiful and I love it to travel around and discover more of this country.
